MSA Funding & Forms Page

Every year MSA holds fundraisers and receives grants from the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association to raise money to disburse to the class for various projects, talks and programs.

***Please note on the advertisements for your events that both the MSA and WMAA are sponsoring your event financially.

Before you submit funding requests, you will want to read a brief overview of the funding rules and application process.

Event Funding:

If you want to request any amount of money for any event, you must:
  1. Submit a programming request at least 2 weeks in advance of your event.
  2. No later than two weeks after your event, submit a reimbursement request form.

Travel Policy
School Travel Policy and Pre-Approval:

  • Students must comply with the school's Student Travel Policy. The complete policy is located in the Student Handbook. Please readthe following guidelines and the funding rules and application process carefully prior to making travel plans and requesting travel funding.
  • Year 1 and Year 2 students requesting to attend a conference who are either a presenter or a leader/delegate will be excused from required course activities. Year 1 and Year 2 students requesting to attend a conference who do not have a role as a presenter or a leader/delegate will NOT be excused from required course activities.
  • Year 3 and Year 4 students requesting to attend a conference must obtain permission from their clerkship director and adhere to the policies established by the clerkship. Students may be excused to attend professional meetings if they are presenting or participating as a leader.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT RESEARCH PRESENTATONS: MSA DOES NOT provide funding for research presentations.  The Dean’s Office provides funding for research presentations limited to 50% of expenses up to a maximum of $500 for one presentation per student per year contingent on the availability of funds.  See the Travel Policy for information on how to make a request for a research presentation travel reimbursement.

  1. Fill out a Student Travel Pre-Approval Form at least 3 weeks prior to the travel date and submit to Student Services.
  2. You must fill out a separate travel funding application at least 2 weeks in advance of your conference.
  3. Within 1 week of your return, fill out the travel reimbursement form and submit it along with a conference schedule and any receipts to the M1 treasurer.
